Smoked Pulled Pork
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground paprika
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ¼ teaspoon coarse black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
- 1 (4-5 pound) bone-in pork shoulder Boston butt roast
- Hickory wood chips
Test Kitchen Tip: A 5-pound pork butt will yield about 8 cups of meat. Try adding smoked pork to sandwiches, tacos or Pork Pozole
Directions
- In small bowl, combine brown sugar, salt, chili powder, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Rub pork all over with seasoning mixture
- Assemble Smoker Slow Cooker following manufacturer directions. Add wood chips to charring chamber. Cover charring chamber with lid.
- Place pork on rack with handles and lower into Smoker Slow Cooker. Cover with lid.
- Set Smoker Slow Cooker to SMOKE on COMBO for 6 hours. Pork is done when it can be shredded easily with a fork. When pork is done, dispose of wood chips properly by soaking with water.
