  • 6 Roma tomatoes, quartered
  • 1 tablespoon fresh basil leaves
  • 2 teaspoons fresh Italian parsley leaves
  • 4 garlic cloves, peeled and smashed
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt


  1. Place tomatoes, basil, parsley, and garlic into a Weston Manual Food Grinder with the coarse grinding plate inserted. Turn the handle to make your tomato puree.
  2. Mix in tomato paste, then sprinkle in salt and sugar
  3. Bring to a boil, then simmer in a medium sauce pan for 15-30 minutes, stirring occasionally (if you have more time, you can certainly simmer longer).
