I used peach brandy because it's what I had on hand (and it's delicious). You could definitely change up this recipe with some bourbon, maybe some flavored whiskey... even a good smoked stout — in fact, I dare you to. ...And let us know how it came out for you!
Makes about 24 apple chips
- Ingredients -
3 apples
1/4 cup peach brandy
- Tools -
Weston Apple Peeler
Weston Vacuum Sealer + bag
Weston Dehydrator
Peel, slice and core your apples with your
Apple Peeler.
 |
Apple chips are already easy to make, but the prep work only takes a minute if you have a Weston Apple Peeler. |
Place the slices into a
Weston Vacuum Sealer Bag, and pour in the brandy. Use your
Weston Vacuum Sealer to seal the bag.
 |
Vacuum sealing the apples Weston Vacuum Bag draws the brandy deep into the pores of the apple. |
Allow to marinate overnight.
Place the apple slices onto the trays of your
dehydrator and dehydrate 2-3 days, or until the apples feel dry, but still spongy.
 |
Brandy-infused apple slices lay on a tray of our Weston 4-Tier Dehydrator, ready to be dried. |
Allow the apple chips to air out overnight - this will allow them to crisp. Enjoy!
If you'd like to store your apple chips, you can put them in a paper bag, store in a cool, dry place, and enjoy them for a week. For longer storage, seal them with your Weston Vacuum Sealer - but be sure to let them dry completely before you seal them. You'll get at least a couple of months out of them this way, so long as they were properly dried.
